Precious oil was discovered in Borno in the Lake Chad basin in 2012. After oil was discovered in the basins in neighboring Chad and Niger, the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC commenced serious prospecting in the Chad, Anambra and other basins with high expectancy of discovering oil. True to the projection, in 2012 oil was found in the Borno Lake Chad basin.
But as is the curse of all regions in the third world where oil is found, perhaps not by pure coincidence, a new Boko Haram II terror group reappeared in Borno and was powerfully sponsored to take over from where the defunct Yusufiyyah initial Boko Haram I group that was destroyed by late Umaru Yar’Adua, used to function. This new Boko Haram II was more brutal and determined to kill or expel all indigenes from the oil endowed northern state.
Is Boko Haram interested in the oil wealth buried under the Bornu soil? Is Boko Haram a purposeful tool to inhibit and frustrate the plans to begin exploration of commercial oil from Borno? The plan to explore was set for this 2014, but obviously with Boko Haram in control of the land under which this northern oil find was made, there will be no exploration and harvesting of oil any time soon.
Nigeria’s government forms panels to analyze every minor situation, panels to review the analysis and then panels to discus implementation of the results and then other panels to implement the results… it is rather puzzling that there are no special panels to seriously and holistically review the real pathogenesis of Boko Haram II, the context of the formation of this terror group at the beginning of the Goodluck administration, precisely on October 1st, 2010 (MEND Abuja bombing date), to study its support and to thoroughly analyze the reasons for the complete failure of all approaches the Goodluck administration has currently utilized toward controlling it.
The Association of Petroleum Inland Basins States of Northern Nigeria (APIBONN) has been fighting to fast-track the exploration of oil and gas in basins in the north of the nation; however the terror situation conveniently prevents any serious efforts at exploration. Several Basins mostly north of the Niger river, some with oil finds but most yet to be fully explored according to APIBONN are the Northern Anambra and Southern Bida Basins in Kwara and Kogi States, Niger (Central Bida and Southern Sokoto Basins), Benue, Nasarawa, Plateau and Taraba (Middle Benue Trough), Bauchi,  Gombe, Adamawa and Yobe (Upper Benue Trough and part of Chad Basin), Borno (Chad Basin) while Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara (Sokoto Basin – oil found).
It is time to ask many, many questions. Is someone stopping exploration? Does someone wish to annex Borno? Does someone wish to care out oil-rich Borno as his new nation? There is no question that the find of oil reserves in 2012 potentially puts the entire conflict in the north in a different light. Blood oil?

I knew this already! Nigerian movie producers seem to take advantage of every situation in the country to make a movie out of it and now, they have started making movies on the dreaded Ebola Virus disease.
It was just a matter of time before heartless Nigerian movie producers who, for the lack of depth, take advantage of every situation to come out with some run of the mills movie. And just like we predicted, they have latched onto the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in the country to come out with a movie on it.
Just like they did with the unfortunate killing of four students of the University of Port Harcourt by the Aluu Community and the kidnapping of female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, by the BokoHaram sect, a movie production outfit, Times Gate Production International, has come out with a movie entitled Ebola, apparently on the dreaded EVD.
Is this a case what is called in local parlance, 'Naija no dey carry last?
Lt. Col. Adeboye Obasanjo, who was shot by Boko Haram, is eager to return to the battlefield
According to reports, the wounded son of former President,Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed his desire to return to the battlefield.
Reports released on Monday, September 8, 2014 had it that Lt. Col. Adeboye Obasanjo was shot and injured by Boko Harammilitants in Mubi, Adamawa where he was leading a platoon.
The younger Obasanjo is said to have told former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who visited him in a Yola hospital, that he is eager to return to battle.
Atiku is said to have visited Adeboye yesterday, September 9, 2014 and he was reportedly impressed at the latter’s desire to get back to work.
Nuhn Ribadu
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made the pioneer chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, a laughing stock, Goveror Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State said on Wednesday.
oples Democratic Party (PDP) has made the pioneer chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, a laughing stock, Goveror Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State said on Wednesday.
He made the remark in Kano while receiving merit awards from two groups, APC Kwankwasiyya Amana, Bauchi state chapter; and Nigeria 774 Kwankwasiyya Merger: Kwankwaso for President.
“After he left the APC for the PDP, his new party did not find him worthy of its gubernatorial ticket. I am sure the PDP stakeholders in Adamawa are now laughing at him.  We sympathize with him.”
The governor however called on the Adamawa electorate to think wisely and vote for the APC candidate in the forthcoming gubernatorial election, considering the hardships caused to the state by the PDP central government.
He appealed to them to pay back good for good by dumping the PDP and voting for the APC which is ready to bring about positive and realistic changes in the whole country.
“Anybody who voted for PDP, which within five years could not lead the nation rightly has deceived himself,” lamented the governor, pointing out that APC has come up with a credible candidate in person of Senator Muhammad Jibrila Bindaw who can salvage Adamawa state.
He alleged that the Adamawa state PDP chose a candidate whom most of their supporters see as incompetent, hoping that people in the state should opt for APC, describing it as the best party in Nigeria.
Earlier, the chairmen of the NGOs Murtala Abdullahi Dass and Habu Ibrahim Fagge appealed to Kwankwaso to enter the race for the presidency come 2015, assuring him they will mobilize Nigerians to support him.
Meanwhile, Governor Kwankwaso has thanked the state APC stakeholders’ effort in mobilizing people across the nation to support his presidential aspiration in the 2015 general election.
Meeting with them at the Kano Government House also on Wednesday, the governor said that most of the people he met at the APC Northwest rally in Sokoto told him that the message has reached them and they are in support of the aspiration.
He therefore urged the stakeholders to continue to enlighten Nigerians until the APC wins the 2015 general elections. He also reiterated that he's still consulting on the 2015 presidential contest and will make his decision known to the general public very soon.

Over 20 billion dollars is missing, or rather in their new terminology, unaccounted-for. That is the total missing for only 18 months reviewed of a total five years of the Jonathan administration. If all five years are audited, estimates are that over $127 billion dollars is missing / unaccounted for. Nigeria’s oil goddess, Diezani Alison-Madueke still continues to steal $4million every day in the kerosene subsidy scam.
Purposely distracted by the miraculous success of ragtag bunch of Boko Haram terrorists, Nigerians appear to have put aside our clamor for that money as we beg for our State security department to do their dm job.
The unaccounted-for $20 billion dollars would purchase hundreds of drones, better military equipment and pay the salaries of our unmotivated, sabotaged soldiers dying to defend Nigeria from the mess of top army chiefs and politicians implicated in the sponsorship of Boko Haram who largesse on embezzled millions and enjoy limitless immunity of the Jonathan toothless, clueless administration. In five full years, Jonathan has not locked up or killed a single sponsor of Boko Haram.
Yesterday’s news as reported by SaharaReporters has it that former President Obasanjo’s son Lt. Col. Adeboye was shot and seriously injured, among at least 24 other brave Nigerian troops killed in Mubi. How many more of our civilians and soldiers have to die and be destroyed?
Earlier, the Economist reported that, “Despite a large increase in government spending on the army, little of this largesse has found its way to the front lines: many of the troops fighting against Boko Haram have been paid late, or sometimes not at all.”
When they assumed office Nigeria’s new set of army bosses promised to defeat Boko Haram by April. That April, our girls were abducted. By June, DailyTrust reported that the army chiefs were busy dividing barracks land in Abuja among themselves.
The situation is pathetic and hopeless. Aso rock is truly vacant.
One quarter of Nigeria’s budget is allocated to the so-called war on terror, yet our army is underfunded and undermined in grievous treachery, wrought off of greed to demonic proportions. The US stated last week that the Nigerian army reputation has tanked. Corruption has finally, totally killed us.
President Goodluck Jonathan raised N58 billion from his friends to allegedly rehabilitate the northeast, yet the thousands of civilians and volunteers including the CJTF, hunters, vigilante’s, and ex officers who have gathered with a promise to go out and sacrifice their lives to reclaim their State from Boko Haram terrorists, receive no financial support or assistance from the federal government from all this money. We asked yesterday that is it when Boko Haram rules Borno and all the locals have been abducted for rape or conscription, killed or displaced that Jonathan will spend the N58 billion on their- Boko Haram Borno’s welfare?
Former US Ambassador, John Campbell this May stated of the Nigerian army: “There are hints that sympathizers in the Nigerian army will deliberately leave doors of armouries unlocked for Boko Haram.” –ThisDay, May 15, 2014. That no one has been court-martialed for this grand treason and treacherous sponsorship of Boko Haram terrorism by members of the Nigerian army IMPLICATES the army chiefs directly in the sponsorship of Boko Haram terrorism in Nigeria. Sponsorship is logistic, financial and hardware.
Borno State yesterday submitted that most of their State is now the territory of Boko Haram. Where is our army? Where is that African army that liberated Liberia? What more evidence do we need of the top level army chief sabotage and support of Boko Haram than the fact that this ragtag group of miscreants can continue to win victories over the great Nigerian army and army of Africa’s largest economy?
It is time to impeach Jonathan.
Since we have been shouting, alerting of the impending doom, some people thought w were mad, but now the entire nation and world sees the alarming recklessness and puerile hopelessness of our leadership. This cannot be sustained.
President Jonathan and Boko Haram who he calls his siblings and family, must go. Nigeria cannot afford to wait another week.
Northern babalawos have added their voices to the fight against Boko Haram by giving the FG an ultimatum to arrest and prosecute those indicted as sponsors of the insurgents.

Just like the Witches and Wizards Association of Nigeria gave the Boko Haram elements in the country an ultimatum to free the kidnapped Chibok girls or face their wraths, (we are still waiting to see the outcome of the ultimatum that had since expired), the Northern wing of traditional medicine practitioners, aka babalawos, have told the Federal Government to arrest and prosecute former governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff and former Chief of Army Statf, Gen. Azubike Ihejirika, who have been fingered as the sponsors of the dreaded Islamic sect, within 40 days, or it would be forced to sue the men for allegedly financing terrorism.
The herbalists who claim they have what it takes to arrest the kingpin of the Boko Haram insurgents, Abubakar Shekau ,but only waiting for the green light from the FG, also said that if the FG refuses to arrest those indicted, they will resort to a special prayers for God's wrath to fall on Sheriff, Ihejirika and others.
If the Federal Government refuses to do this, our members shall resort to special prayers for 21 days for God’s wrath to befall Sheriff, Ihejirika, their fellow collaborators and Boko Haram members.
Stressing that many of their members have been killed by the insurgents who have also taken over the Sambisa Forest where they get their roots and herbs, the also said:
Babalawos are Nigerians and deserve the same recognition accorded Imams and Pastors by government.
Many churches and mosques have received compensation from state governments for the destruction of their places of worship but not a single Babalawo has received a condolence message or any form of monetary compensation since the Boko Haram problem started three years ago.
The boat was reportedly conveying passengers to Lokoja market when it capsized
Thirty-three people are said to have died in Niger after a boat carrying them capsized.
The incident is said to have occurred around the Dere area of the state and the passengers were reportedly on their way from Katcha to Lokoja market.
Leadership reports that the boat was carrying about 100 passengers but it lost control and hit a tree in the middle of the river.
The boat then split in two resulting in the death of the victims, consisting of mostly women and children who weren’t able to swim to safety.
The accident has reportedly been confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abiodun Gambari.
The Secretary to the Borno State Government, Baba Ahmad Jidda reportedly said that Boko Haram has taken over the state
The activities of Boko Haram in Borno state have become cause for alarm, the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Ahmad Jidda has said.
The Nation reports that Jidda made a statement to newsmen in Abuja today, September 7, 2014 as regards the insecurity currently plaguing Borno.
The statement reads:
“A deep appraisal of the condition prevailing in Borno State at the moment shows a disrupted environment that is in desperate need of peace and restoration.
“As a result of the insurgency caused by Boko Haram, large swathes of the land in the state is currently inaccessible. Normal governmental, economic, social and political activities have been dislocated with huge numbers of displaced persons living in refugee camps in Maiduguri, neighbouring states as well as Niger, Chad and Cameroon.
“The State of Emergency is still in force with its attendant curfews and restrictions on free movement and assembly.
“The Maiduguri Airport is also closed limiting access significantly to and out of Borno State. The threat to security of lives and property as a result of the criminal activities of the Boko Haram insurgents is everywhere and indeed the limited peace prevailing in Maiduguri and the few other areas is achieved largely due to alertness and corporation of the Civilian JTF and the security agencies.
“Moreover the search and rescue efforts for the abducted Chibok School girls remain on the front burner.
The above scenario presents a troubling condition that affects all and sundry in Borno State and the North-East as a Zone.”
“At this very moment, most parts of Borno State are being occupied by Boko Haram insurgents. Government presence and administration is minimal or non-existent across many parts of the state, with economic, commercial and social services totally subdued. Schools and clinics remain closed.”
The SSG also reportedly said that it is necessary for all political leaders and stakeholders in Borno State to unite and meet with President Goodluck Jonathan for the purpose of finding a solution to the problem.

The Nigerian Medical Association has faulted the government’s instruction for all schools to resume September 22
Nigerian Doctors, under the aegis of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), have reportedly expressed displeasure at the new resumption date for primary and secondary schools announced by the Federal Government.
The government has said that students can now resume on September 22 as against October 12 after schools were shut indefinitely over the outbreak of Ebola in the country.
However, the NMA through its National Secretary-General, Dr. Olawunmi Alayaki,  has said that the schools are supposed to remain closed until there’s no case of Ebola (suspected or confirmed) left in the country.
The organization said:
“We are not happy with this decision on the resumption of schools. Schools should be shut till the last suspected case or patient is certified free of the virus,” the NMA said.
“ We can shift the resumption date till next year or in the next three months if that is the time it will take. Government should have enough time to follow the standard procedure for containing   the virus.
“Parents have no reason to be   in a hurry because if Ebola should enter any school, it will assume another dimension. Children cannot survive isolation like adults.
“Nigeria is peculiar because of her large population and we should be pragmatic and proactive. It   will not augur well for the country if we have another outbreak due to carelessness.”

Pastor Bakare revealed that he tore the popular bishop’s book because he said the anointing oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit

In a recent interview with reporters from The Punch newspapers, founder of Latter Rain Assembly, Tunde Bakare revealed why he had a fight with Bishop David Oyedepo of Winners Chapel and tore his book.

The former vice presidential candidate under the now defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), revealed that he tore the popular bishop’s book because he said the anointing oil is a symbol of the Holy Spirit which he claims contradicts the word of God.

Read excerpts from the interview:

On his take on anointing oil

People like to create their own Tunde Bakare. I love God, I love people, I love the godly and the ungodly and I try within my God-given ability to teach the truth. The reason I fought with my friend, Bishop David Oyedepo, and tore his book, I remember when we resolved this problem in London, we came out of a plane, he took me aside and said he was angry with me because I tore his book. I said I didn’t tear your book, I tore my book.

That is fine, you wrote it, I bought it, so it was my book I tore. I saw errors in that book because he said the anointing oil is not a symbol of the Holy Spirit that it is the life of God in a bottle. How can you write that and I would let it pass.

No! If the anointing oil is the Holy Spirit, then Jesus is a lamb walking on four legs. These are metaphors and when you have the real, you leave the shadow. Besides it is for the sick in the New Testament. So, you can anoint the entire church if they are sick and I would wonder how a sick church can bring healing to a dying world.

On his participation at the national conference

Number one, I didn’t select myself; I didn’t force myself on the government. I represented the South-West geo-political zone. When the elders met, they put my name down. I pleaded with them that I would not even have the time. But they insisted that they wanted me there and you don’t reject your elders if they feel you have something to contribute or they consider that you are relevant.

Two, while I was still battling with who will represent me at the conference, the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, also put forward my name. At that point I decided to give it a chance. But I gave a condition and that condition was that I would not take a penny from the conference; I would not be given any allowance and I wrote a letter to that effect and they replied me. I did this so that if anything went wrong, I would retain my freedom to express myself freely. That does not mean others who took the allowance are bad people. No! We see things from different perspectives. Staying in Abuja is very expensive. I won’t tell you how much I spent but I travelled on each occasion with my research team and about three to four staff and we stayed in a suite which is quite expensive.

On if he has joined politics again

I have never joined politics. I am a nation builder, I am not a politician. I sleep well, I wake up well. I have no ambition; there is no desire to be anything in politics. All I want to see is a nation that works. If you ask me today if I am seeking any elective office, my answer will be no. I was asked to be a running mate to Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, I was not looking forward to it at all. But if I am beckoned upon to do something, I will pray about it and if I see that it does not negate what I stand for and believe in, why not? The truth is that if good people don’t participate in politics, then we will continue to endure the rule of idiots.

On if asked God and was told to go ahead to be Buhari’s running mate

Several times Paul would say in the Bible that “this is I speaking but not the spirit of God even though I have the spirit of God in me.” With every sense of modesty, a man like me would not jump without looking. If you don’t look and you leap, you can leap into disaster that would backfire on you and everything you stand for in the society. When my book is out, it would be clear to all the process it took for me to be a running mate.

I sat in my house, leading a group called Arrow Heads which is already public knowledge after Mallam Nasir El-Rufai wrote about it in his book, ‘Accidental Public Servant.’ We gathered a group of Nigerians we felt could make a change in our clime. People like Oby Ezekwesili, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Donald Duke, Nasir El-Rufai, Nuhu Ribadu, Fola Adeola, Jimi Lawal, Yinka Odumakin, Jimi Agbaje, Wale Osun and a few others.

We said to ourselves that we should form the Arrow Heads to produce a change. And when I was given the privilege of being the chairperson of that group, I told them I would only accept on two conditions. Number one, that I would not join any political party and number two, I would not seek any elective office so that if there is a dispute, I can effectively resolve it. Those around me know that I have no desire for a political office but those who don’t know me think I am an opportunist.

Gen. Buhari called me on January 15 of that year and said, that he had done his own little prayers and he wanted to ask me to be his running mate. I told him I couldn’t because I lead a group and I had given them my word and that my word is my bond. I also told him that I had no desire for a political office; all I wanted to see was a change and be among those who work behind the scene. So, Gen. Buhari asked me to pray about it that he would get back to me. Within six or seven hours, he called back and I told him that I had not consulted my people. The first person I called among others was my wife and daughter and then spoke to Pastor Adeboye twice on it.

Speaking further, Pastor Tunde Bakare said

You see people don’t know things that happen behind the scene. I spoke to him twice and he said look, don’t be afraid, step in there, whether you win or lose, God is taking you somewhere. I didn’t jump because of that. I spoke to my mother and she said she had a dream about it six months before; I still didn’t jump. I thought it would be unfair not to tell Bola Tinubu because I had been brokering some things between the then Action Congress and the Congress for Progressive Change before the AC became ACN. So, I called Tinubu in the presence of Jimi Agbaje and Yinka Odumakin. I said to him that Gen. Buhari had called to offer this, give me a Christian from your group so that I can present to him. I invited the former governor of Ekiti State, Niyi Adebayo to my house and told him that he would be a better person to handle this. Both of us were in the Faculty of Law, University of Lagos at the same time. So, I looked for every way not to take Buhari’s offer and I didn’t fill the form. I took my team and went to the General and asked him why he wanted me to be his running mate. He said three things, “your passion for Nigeria. You have been a Muslim before, you are a Christian now. You have lived in the North, you were born in the South, you understand the geography and I think you can be a positive influence to pull the nation together. Number two, your integrity, number three, supposing I die in office like Yar’Adua, I want someone who would not sell out, who would still continue my vision for this country.” Still, I didn’t fill the form.

I went to El-Rufai’s house, we sat down there and he encouraged me to take it and I said I was not taking it. I told him I needed to clear a particular thing in my heart. Everyone who had been assistant to Gen. Buhari died before him. Tunde Idiagbon is gone, Okadigbo is gone, Ume-Ezeoke is gone, why do I want to go and put my head in a death sentence. I need to know what is responsible for that, so I can’t just jump, I will need to pray through. I told Gen. Buhari the same thing I am saying now.

The day before the final submission of names, former President Olusegun Obasanjo told El-Rufai that he was ready to support Buhari if he could drop me and replace me with Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as his running mate. El-Rufai ran to me, that this was what Obasanjo said. The three of us were in the same hotel but in different suites. We went straight to Gen. Buhari and I said to him that breakthrough had come. I told him I had not filled the form and that there were five reasons why he must take Okonjo-Iweala. Number one, she is Delta-Igbo, you would have solved the problem of South-East/South-South. Number two, she’s a woman, you have settled the gender issue. Number three, Christian, balanced ticket. Number four, a former minister of finance and former minister of external affairs, experience which I don’t have. Number five, World Bank top executive, international exposure. Even though I have travelled round the world, I have not worked in any organisation, she is a better candidate. This is the form, I have not filled it. General Buhari looked at me and said did Obasanjo speak to you and I said no that he spoke to El-Rufai and I believe him. And he asked El-Rufai to repeat everything Obasanjo said to him and he did. He said to El-Rufai that well, you have worked with him and I have worked with him too, he would have something up his sleeves which we don’t know. Buhari turned to me and said, Pastor Bakare, I have waited long enough and today is the last day, if you are not going to fill the form, give it to me, I will look for someone until we can get a person like you. At that point, I became overwhelmed and I signed the form and El-Rufai seconded. That was the process; it was not an overnight thing.

On if he has any regrets accepting that offer

Not at all. If I have the chance, I will do it again. Buhari is an incorruptible leader. He is a man whose word is his bond. He is a reliable person and he loves this country. I don’t flatter people and you know I fought almost all military impostors in this country; there was a time I couldn’t stand any of them. But getting close to him, I realised he loves Christians as much as he loves Muslims.

For those who said why Buhari? I remember Adunni Abimbola Adelakun, she wrote why can’t Bakare run as President? Why do you have to be a running mate? I just laughed when I read that. Don’t forget that Joseph served Pharaoh, Daniel served Nebuchadnezzar, and we are the salt of the earth and the light of the world, so you can maintain contact without contamination. Anything that would contribute to the wellbeing of the people of this country, as much as God gives me the grace, I would do it.

On if President Jonathan was still on a mission to ruin Nigeria as quoted in 2012

You do not separate a statement and body of facts that led to that statement. President Jonathan himself is a victim of circumstances. Who groomed him for what he is doing? I think he has had to learn on the job. Whether he is learning fast or is taking his time, is for others to comment. I marched on the streets of Abuja, Lagos, led Save Nigeria Group in different campaigns for him to become Acting President and he subsequently became the President of Nigeria.

He is alive, if I have taken a dime from him for anything, he can say. Not that they would not want to be a blessing to me but I don’t take. My hands have provided enough for me. I am contented. I have had the privilege of sitting with the President this year about five times and it is always about how to move the nation forward. I remember when the President wanted to see me; I called Gen. Buhari immediately to inform him about the invitation because I don’t double-deal. I am a loyal person and I made the President know that I informed Gen. Buhari before coming for that particular meeting. The things he said to me are not for now; they would come out at the appropriate time.

I think Jonathan is honestly doing his best but history would judge whether his best is good enough. The Nigerian issue is complex. It requires a level of capability and dynamism and that is not common among the current politicians.

On if Nigerian Churches being a Theatre applies to him

It doesn’t. I said the difference between the cinema and the church in Nigeria is that for the cinema you pay a gate fee before you enter but in the church, they let you come in before they take from you. When the youth pastor was ministering today, I said wow, if I am out of here today, these people can continue.

The Nigerian military are reportedly battling against Boko Haram insurgents at Mubi town following reports that residents of the town are fleeing the area following news of the approaching terrorists.

Excerpt from Punch:

Nigerian soldiers are turning back fleeing residents of Mubi in Adamawa State as they engage Boko Haram insurgents in an attempt to regain the town.

The soldiers are also said to be engaging in a fierce battle with members of the sect all through Sunday night and Monday morning to regain full control of Michika.

Fighter jets are bombing the hideouts of the insurgents while foot soldiers battle their locations around Michika local government area secretariat.

Chairman of the Maiduguri chapter of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Malam Abdulwasiu Alfa, on Monday urged the Federal Government to adopt some of its strategies against the Ebola Virus Disease in fighting Boko Haram, adding the tactics would go a long way in ending insurgency in the country.

``We commend the Federal Government for gallantly curbing the spread of the Ebola virus.

``We urge the government to do so toward ending the Boko Haram reign of terror in the country,’’ Alfa said.

Alfa said that if government had adopted the same strategy in fighting the insurgency the problem would have been solved long ago.

``If the government will fight the insurgency the way it fought the dreaded Ebola virus, the Boko Haram sect will have been crushed long ago,’’ he said.

Alfa also urged the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the National Commission for Refugees (NCR) to be more proactive toward assisting thousands of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Borno.

``Government agencies charged with providing succor to the IDPs like NEMA and NCR should be more visible in areas which has the highest number of IDPs,’’ Alfa said.

He also called on the Federal Government to issue a white paper on the Gaji Galtimari Committee of Inquiry into the Boko Haram crisis in the state.

President Goodluck Jonathan on Saturday in Abuja called on Nigerians to pray for the nation’s security forces to enable them to contain insecurity in the country.
Jonathan made the call at the inauguration of the “Citadel and Towers”, the new complex of the House on the Rock Church, Abuja.
Represented by the Minister of Agriculture, Akinwunmi Adesina, Jonathan, who also inaugurated the Churche’s Cathedral in Lagos, said both structures were architectural masterpieces.
“We understand the importance of faith-based organisations in building a strong, peaceful, resilient and prosperous nation; your work in this regard is highly commendable.
“Like the citadel, Nigeria is rising, my government is working hard, supported by your prayers and the results are evident.
“Today, Nigeria is the largest economy in Africa; we are producing more food than ever before.
“There are renewal of our rail systems, improvement of petrochemical and gas industries, expansion of construction of roads and other infrastructure.
“Modernisation of our airports, improvement of our educational and health systems are receiving major attention’’, he said.
According to him, together we are building a Nigeria of our dreams; a nation destined for greatness by God, to become a beacon of light to nations.
“Yes, we have our security challenges, but none of these things should discourage us, we are working very hard to address the insecurity in some parts of the nation.
“Our security forces are facing enemies of progress who do not want our nation to prosper; those who maim and destroy.
“We must all arise and pray for our security forces, we must be encouraged everyday and indeed when the enemy shall arise, the Lord will lift a mighty standard against him’’, he said.
He expressed gratitude for the prayers of the church for Nigeria, especially for people in government and for the vision for the new church complex.
Jonathan expressed optimism that great leaders would arise from the Church and other faith-based organisations to move the nation forward.
Pastor Paul Adefarasin of the House on the Rock Church, said true transformation required discipline, integrity, unity, commitment, clarity of purpose and sharpness of vision.
He said the citadel being inaugurated was synonymous with the Biblical nation builder Nehemiah and thus Nigeria must stand guard physically and spiritually.
He harped on the need for social justice and equity in the land.
“Today, we stand in one of such structures built to protect our land and deliver social justice to all; the Citadel and Towers epitomises contemporary 21st century architecture.
“It behoves on us to remember the reason for which the citadel was birthed; this edifice has been prayerfully fashioned as a place of refuge.
“This centre is inspired by a clear understanding of the strategic role of faith based organisations as partners in national development.
“Government alone cannot be left to do the business of building our nation; we must all become veritable vehicles for the actualisation of social justice”, he said.
He said education cannot be overemphasised as a tool for national transformation and the church must play its role.

Nigerian Prophet T.B. Joshua gave another surprising revelation in his church service on Sunday 7th August 2014, specifically calling for prayer for Pope Francis of the Catholic Church, as well as prophesying an imminent hijacking of a plane by ‘militants’.

“There is a very big religious leader,” Joshua began, describing the said person as a ‘father’ figure, widely respected across different religions.

“I have been praying for him,” he continued, adding that he received an alarming ‘vision’ concerning him the prior day.

“They should pray for him,” Joshua proceeded, although not specifying which area people should direct their prayer towards. “The clergyman I am talking about is the Pope,” he then clarified.

Continuing, Joshua prophetically warned of a plane being hijacked by ‘militant’ forces in a dramatic scene that would result in ‘breaking news’ worldwide.

“They will attempt to enter a plane,” the cleric declared. “You will hear ‘Breaking News’ of a hijacker inside the plane that carried the plane from its original direction to another direction.”

“We should pray so that it will not just end like that and we learn that there’s a crash,” he said, seemingly referring to the infamous Al Quaeda attack against America on September 11th 2001 where four commercial planes were hijacked by the terrorists.

“This is another big attempt they want to do,” Joshua warned, soliciting heightened security checks in airports worldwide to avert the impending disaster.

Last week, T.B. Joshua gave a widely reported prophecy concerning ‘approaching’ world events.

He said he had a vision of US President Barack Obama being rushed to hospital with a health challenge, another plane crash in the region around Russia and Ukraine and a political crisis in Nigeria sparked by the murder of a ‘bigshot’.

Joshua reminded congregants of the prophecy, adding that the killing of al-Shabab’s spiritual leader Ahmed Abdi Godane by US forces in an airstrike on Monday showed ‘God’ was involved.

Joshua had specifically called for prayer for Kenya related to a ‘militant’ plan in place to attack a presidential figure in Southern Africa.

Congo Brazzaville produced a shock victory in their Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign, beating Nigeria 3-2 in their Group A match in Calabar.

It is the first time Nigeria have lost a competitive home game in 33 years.
The Super Eagles fell apart in quite extraordinary fashion in Calabar - a reflection perhaps of the chaos engulfing Nigerian football at the moment.
Elsewhere on Saturday, there were also away wins for Cameroon, Algeria and Cape Verde on a day when 11 group qualifiers were scheduled across the continent.
Nigeria, the reigning African champions, took the lead against Congo after 13 minutes when Efe Ambrose's header managed to find a way past Congo goalkeeper Massa Chansel.
But the lead did not last long as Prince Oniangue took advantage of some slack marking and equalised for the Red Devils two minutes later.
It was a tricky game played on a bumpy pitch which made ball-control nearly impossible.

As Nigeria struggled to find drive and creativity, disaster struck.

Just moments after goalkeeper Austin Ejide had done well to keep out a superb free kick by Francis Nganga, the visitors went in front on 40 minutes when Thievy Bifouma (pictured) finished off a fine move.
Bifouma struck again in the 53rd minute when he converted a penalty awarded when he was fouled by Ogenyi Onazi inside the box.
Gbolahan Salami then gave the home side a glimmer of hope when he reduced the arrears with less than five remaining.
But the Red Devils held on for a famous victory.
Nigeria captain Austin Ejide admitted they lost to a better side.
"They dominated and deservedly won. We underrated them and paid dearly. They were more aggressive and played like the home side here. A poor performance on our part."
As for Congo's Thievy Bifouma, who netted two goals for his country, he was proud of their performance.
"We worked hard. We knew we were facing a big side in Africa and we played our own game and we are proud of ourselves. We need to focus on Sudan on Wednesday now."
Elsewhere, there were cheers and boos in equal measure in Kumasi as Ghana drew 1-1 with Uganda .
The Black Stars are suffering an intense public backlash as the fallout from their 2014 World Cup shambles continues.
The Baba Yara stadium was virtually empty as angry fans stayed away in their thousands.
Tony Mawejje netted for the Cranes in the first half before Andre Ayew equalised for the Black Stars just after half-time from the penalty spot.
The home side may have stolen a point but their performance will have done nothing to appease their disgruntled supporters.
Cameroon made a perfect start to life without their retired talisman Samuel Eto'o with a workmanlike 2-0 victory over an out-of-sorts DR Congo side in Lubumbashi on Saturday.
Clinton N'jie (pictured), the France-based striker, opened the scoring on the stroke of half-time before Vincent Aboubakar, who plays for Porto in Portugal, doubled the advantage with eight minutes remaining.

Despite winning back-to-back Africa Cup of Nations titles in 2000 and 2002, the indomitable Lions have failed to qualify for the past two tournaments.
Sterner tests lie ahead, with Ivory Coast also in this group, but after a rotten World Cup campaign, this win will give Volke Finke's team plenty of confidence.
The Congolese are looking to secure a second straight appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations after crashing out of the group stage in South Africa in 2013.
But they were severely handicapped after 21 minutes when captain Youssouf Mulumbu was taken off with a hamstring injury.
Frenchman Christian Guorcuff marked his first competitive game in charge of Algeria with a 2-1 win over Ethiopia in Addis Ababa on Saturday.
Guorcuff took over from Vahid Halilhodzic, the man who led the Desert Foxes to the knock-out stages of the World Cup, and must have been pleased with what he saw on the pitch.
Hillel Soudani and Yasin Brahimi struck either side of half-time to ruin Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto's first competitive as Ethiopia's head coach.
Saladin Said gave the local fans something to shout about when he reduced the deficit from the penalty spot deep in stoppage time.
The Walya Antelopes started brightly and threatened to score on at least two occasions in the opening 10 minutes.
But once the North Africans found their rhythm, the home side struggled to cope.
Ivory Coast defeated Sierra Leone 2-1 in Abidjan. Kei Kamara had put Sierra Leone ahead with Seydou Doumbia and Gervinho sealing the win for The Elephants.
Zambia and Mozambique drew 0-0 in a southern African derby at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.
The Mambas went into the match with the weight of history on their shoulders - in 13 previous clashes against Chipolopolo, they had lost 11 times and drawn the other two.
In Tunis, Yacine Chikaoui scored a late penalty to give Tunisia a come-from-behind 2-1 win over Botswana
Cape Verde produced an impressive display to beat Niger 3-1 in Niamey. Spain-based midfielder Garry pounced after just three minutes to give new Blue Sharks coach Luis Aguas a dream start.
Odair Fortes doubled the advantage 11 minutes later before Ze Luis added a third in the 24th minute. Veteran Niger striker Moussa Maazou pulled one back for the hosts after 34 minutes.
Cape Verde lead Group F with three points, two ahead of second placed Zambia who they meet on Wednesday in Praia.
The match between Mali and Malawi in Bamako has been postponed until Sunday because of heavy rain.

Ruggedman is one of those entertainers who has had his fair share of beef and controversy in the entertainment industry.

Speaking exclusively with NET, when asked if the current beef between Wizkid and Davido is good for the image of the industry, he said ‘What two artistes feel for each other cannot affect the image of the industry. The real actions I believe will affect the image of the music industry is a crime committed by an artist. What they feel for each other only affects their image.’

When asked which is his favourite, the rapper, who rode to fame on the controversial but industry-redefining ‘Ehen Pt 1′ admits it’s difficult to choose. ‘I can’t pick one. I love the talent, great songs and drive they both have. If they choose to have a little friendly competition thing going it’s cool. It will drive them to do more and better. As long as they don’t get it twisted. It’s supposed to be friendly competition.
