No fewer than 50 persons have been feared dead, with several others injured during the collapse of a six-storey building in the Synagogue Church of All Nations in Ikotun, Lagos on Friday.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigerian at the scene reports that ambulances were seen taking people out of the collapse building to the Isolo General Hospital.

There had yet to be an official confirmation of the number of casualties.
Policemen were on the ground dispersing crowds, who were gathered outside the gate of the collapse building.
An eyewitness, who spoke to NAN on anonymity, said that the building collapse at around 1.30pm.
He said the building, which usually serves as a guest house for some foreigners and people from the neighbouring African countries, was completed four months ago.
The eyewitness added that the building, which was a four-storey building, was converted to six-storey building to accommodate more of its visitors.
”We were all surprised with this incidence. At around 1.30pm, the building collapsed while people were inside.
“This building was a four-storey building but it was converted to seven,” he said.
NAN also observed that Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, National Emergency Management Agency and the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps were also on the ground.
LASEMA officials were denied access into the premises of the church while journalists were also chased away from the scene of the incidence.
People, who attempted to take pictures of the scene were harassed by members of the church.

The “Ginger Master” was a guest on ChannelsTV’sRubbin MindsSunday and he admitted to using
drugs.

It probably comes as no surprise that his usual ‘hyperactive’ behaviour is as a result of being
under the influence but the singer has revealed he no longer uses drugs, “I still do marijuana”.

He told the show’s host that the Nigerian music industry is plagued with drug use and abuse and he
was a victim.

“There is plenty drug problem in the industry,” he
said while also admitting that “I am clean but I still
do marijuana.”

Wondering how he got himself caught up with being dependent on the use of drugs? The “Free Madness” hit-maker explained that it wasn’t completely his fault (as many may think) but blamed a mystery Nollywood actress for his mishap.

He said, “I was introduced to drugs by a popular actress.”

Peter Okoye has described his twin brother, Paul as a lazy chap. Peter made this known while the P-Square duo were guests at the Beat 99.9FM for their 5th anniversary celebration. He attributed Paul's laziness to the reason why he does not do a lot of dancing in the group.

I knew this already! Nigerian movie producers seem to take advantage of every situation in the country to make a movie out of it and now, they have started making movies on the dreaded Ebola Virus disease.

It was just a matter of time before heartless Nigerian movie producers who, for the lack of depth, take advantage of every situation to come out with some run of the mills movie. And just like we predicted, they have latched onto the outbreak of the Ebola Virus Disease in the country to come out with a movie on it.

Just like they did with the unfortunate killing of four students of the University of Port Harcourt by the Aluu Community and the kidnapping of female students of the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, by the BokoHaram sect, a movie production outfit, Times Gate Production International, has come out with a movie entitled Ebola, apparently on the dreaded EVD.

Is this a case what is called in local parlance, 'Naija no dey carry last?

South Africa and Nigeria played out an intense 0-0 draw in their 2015 African Nations Cup, Group A qualifier at Cape Town Stadium on Wednesday night.

The result sees Bafana Bafana lying second in the group on four points behind Congo Republic, who defeated Sudan earlier in the day to move to six points, while Nigeria are third on one point.

Neither goalkeeper had to make a save in the first half, but it was an open game as a confident Bafana Bafana held their own against a rather tentative Nigeria.

Sibusiso Vilakazi looked lively early on, showing neat turns and touches to run at the Super Eagles defence, but with no end product to speak of.

Oupa Manyisa had the best chance of the half after Mandla Masango got down the right, crossed, and when Nigeria's half-clearance fell to the Orlando Pirates midfielder, his shot was blocked.

Andile Jali and Dean Furman were holding the midfield for South Africa superbly and really seem to compliment each other. Furman put in two particularly crunching tackles to regain possession, while Jali has been spreading the passes with aplomb and looks in top form.

Jali and Manyisa nearly combined to great effect in the 16th minute but after a good touch from Manyisa to get clear in the box, Nigeria were able to recover and thwart the danger.

Nigeria were looking dangerous on the counter-attack and threatened to open the scoring in the 33rd minute when the blistering quick Ahmed Musa was played in behind, but an excellent sliding tackle from Anele Ngcongca denied him.

Musa's pace has been giving Thulani Hlatshwayo a lot of work to do at right-back, but for all of Nigeria's attacks they have only managed two shots from range off target.

Thabo Matlaba and John Obi Mikel squared up in a heated argument just before half-time after some great pressing from the Bafana left-back as the home side ended the half arguably on top.

Shakes Mashaba threw on Tokelo Rantie in place of Bongani Ndulula at the start of the second half to inject some pace into the attack.

Furman and Jali combined to great effect after an hour of play as the former made another solid tackle in midfield to win the ball before Jali released Rantie into space down the left, but the substitute's left-footed shot could only find the sidenetting.

Onazi had Nigeria's first shot at goal in the second half in the 68th minute after a neat layoff from Mikel but his attempted curler rolled harmlessly wide of Meyiwa's goal.

Rantie was making a difference with his pace and dribbling but chose the wrong option on a few occasions, choosing to dribble too many players or not timing his runs and being played offside.

Ten minutes from time Mulomowandau Mathoho came to Bafana's rescue with a headed goal-line clearance from Nigeria substitute Ighodaro Osaguona's near-post header from Musa's right-wing cross.

However, Rantie had the best chance of the game in the 84th minute when he timed a run to perfection and was played in behind by Vilakazi, but Austrin Ejide came out smartly to save with his foot as the ball was destined for the bottom-left corner.

Manyisa kept the ball alive and after mad scramble inside the box, Nigeria escaped after Jali's eventual shot from the edge of the area hit his own man, substitute Themba Zwane.

Vilakazi was then found guilty of trying to take on too many players when a simpler pass would have been better as South Africa continued their late pressure on the visitors' goal, but with no goals it ended as both sides had to settle for a point.

The month of September has been air marked as the "Prostate Cancer Awareness Month".

In a courtesy call paid by the group to 2Face Idibia at The 960 Music Group's Office in Lagos, Nigeria, 2Face (who is an ambassador for the group) promised to lend all the support he can to the group. A spokesman for the group who consoled the star on the death of his father, was excited about the collaboration and hoped that many more Nigerians would become aware of the disease and ways to curb it.

The group plans to deploy Mobile Cancer Centres (MCC) which would take holistic health promotion to the grassroots of Nigeria.

To mark Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, there shall be FREE PROSTATE CANCER SCREENING at the National Cancer Prevention Programme (NCPP) centre at 30 Ishaga Road, Surulere, Lagos. This will hold on Saturdays September 13th and 20th, 2014 from 2 pm each day.

Now a couple of his fans thought this was overly boastful, and lashed out at him calling him stingy among other nasty. Knowing Timaya for who he is, he didn’t take it too kindly and lashed  right back calling the fan an idiot,  telling him to go work.
What looked like a minor incident escalated into a messy fight as another party of fans began to defend him and commend his effort, dissing the critics.
In recent times, Timaya seems to have made effort to stay away from controversy, but it looks like his controversial nature keeps catching up with him.

The names of both superstars have been put up at the entrance of the prestigous O2 Academy Brixton in London ahead of a major concert this Sunday, Sept. 15.

O2 Academy Brixton has long been hailed London’s flagship venue, a must-play for artists and must-visit for music lovers. It has scooped the NME “Best Venue” award on an incredible twelve occasions between 1994 and 2007, proving its popularity with fans and the media alike and in 2009, received the Music Week ‘Venue Of The Year’ Award. With a capacity of almost 5,000, it is truly one of a kind on the circuit and combines the feeling of an electrifying arena sized atmospher.

Davido dropped the bomb on his Instagram Wednesday afternoon posting an image of the legendary building carrying his and Tiwa's names with the caption:

"Moments like this are worth more than money!! Live at the Brixton Academy this Sunday!!!!!"

This marks the first time both stars will perform at O2 Brixton and perhaps sends a strong message to the rest of the world that Nigerian artistes are as big as their Hollywood counterparts.

Gone are those days when African artistes couldn't get a spot to perform at the O2 - which is one the biggest platforms to host any artistes in Europe.

However, Davido and Tiwa now join the likes of PSquare, D'banj, Wizkid and the Mo'Hits crew to become the few Nigerian stars to hit any of the O2 venues in the past few years.

The award winning singer is finally getting a ring on her middle finger after years of dating baby daddy Toyin Yusuf  with whom she shares a daughter, Emmanuella Kamillah Yusuf .

According to reports, Yusuf popped the question today, September 8 and Omawumi answered yes.

"Yes it's true, I can confirm", Omawumi's manager Sunday Are told Pulse.ng in a telephone conversation.

Just last month, we revealed Omawumi's secret baby daddy as one-time owner of the defunct Zamunda night club in Lagos. We aslo suggested a wedding was on the way soon.

A person who pretended to be a Hulk Hogan allegedly visited Lagos. He successfully deceived everyone including the local celebrities and the police.

This man sure looks like Hulk Hogan and was spotted with full entourage and police escort in Mushin, Lagos, he was treated like a real star.

But the truth was discovered when a fan tweeted at him asking if he was indeed in Nigeria at the moment and he denied it. it turned out that the real Hulk Hogan was in Montreal.

On Nairaland, Nigeria’s leading site, one Marioking announced the author’s death at 11.10 a.m on Monday, and even went ahead to compose a poem  for him in a mix of Yoruba and English:

Thereafter, there were sympathetic comments, on the old man’s alleged transition. The rumour however was exploded by a statement from the Adebayo Faleti Foundation and a logger, who said he had spoken with a relation of Faleti, who confirmed that he is alive, ‘hale and hearty’.
“Adebayo Faleti is much alive, hale and hearty…..Please, let all bloggers be warned of false information that the renown Literary writer and Actor, Adebayo Faleti is dead all in the name of generating traffic…Any caught blogger will suffer legal penalty…Be warned of defamation of character….”, wrote the Foundation.
But the announcement had already gone viral and bloggers persisted in spreading the rumour. Olorisupergal  posted it,  announcing  that the 84 year old writer , died after some illness.” Veteran actor,poet and writer,Adebayo Faleti is dead”, the blogger reported. But as at this morning, the post has been  yanked off.
Some of the bloggers were however a bit cautious in reporting what turned out to be yet another wild rumour on the worldwide web.
Faleti, born  on  26 December 1930 in Agbooye in Oyo State, western Nigeria. He largely educated himself, as a young person, growing up. But  in 1966, he attended the University of Dakar in Senegal and obtained a Certificate of proficiency in French Language and Civilization. Two years later, he graduated from the University Of Ibadan, Nigeria with an honours degree in English. Later on in 1971, he attended the Radio Netherlands Training Center in Hilversum, Holland in 1971 and received a certificate in Television Production
He is a distinguished  poet, writer and author. He is also known for being a successful Yoruba translator, a broadcaster, TV exponent and a pioneer of the first television station in Africa, Western Nigeria Television (WNTV).  He has successfully published a dictionary that contains the formal or official use of Yoruba names. He has received many awards, both locally and internationally. His awards include the national honour, Officer of the Order of the Niger (OON). the Festival of Arts award with Eda Ko L’aropin (1995) and the Afro-Hollywood Award for Outstanding Performance in Arts (2002).

Popular singer 9ice has finally made official his decision to enter politics.

9ice, whose real name is Abolore Akande, has been a very quiet face in the music industry.

He posted a campaign picture of himself dressed in a white agbada and seated in a white chair, with the caption, “Federal House of Rep 2015. Ogbomosho North/South/Orire Federal Constituency.”

He, however, didn’t mention what political party he would be representing.

The death of Joan Rivers on Thursday left some in Hollywood nearly speechless.

"My friend Joan Rivers has passed away," Whoopi Goldberg tweetedThursday as news spread that Rivers had died at 81. "Once again to quote Billy Crystal ... There are no words."

Another comedian, Chris Rock, shared the sentiment. How do you put into words what one woman meant to so many or capture completely -- and in 140 characters, no less -- her incredible legacy?

There's "too much to say," as comedian Billy Eichner put it. "A constant source of encouragement for me years before anyone else gave a damn. A full and fabulous life. Love you, Joan."

At the time of her death, Rivers was an active presence in Hollywood, from TV to the red carpet to the stage. The reactions describe a woman who was respected for her groundbreaking comedy and adored for her kindness
